Acro, Tumbling and Aerials Classes

North West Gymnastics are excited to announce some fun and exciting recreational classes designed for the quality development of Acro and Tumbling skills for advanced dance and gymnastics students.

Did you know that we are trained and accredited in Acro Gymnastics, Acro Dance, Tumbling and Trampoline in addition to our Advanced+ Women’s and Men’s Gymnastics Accreditations?

We love our sport and the teaching of safe technique in a fun and safe environment. We have endless options, equipment and resources to ensure that skills are taught progressively in a safe way with a focus on technique and the appropriate physical preparation.

About Us

How to Sign up for Gymnastics Classes

Class Enrolments and Holiday Class bookings are through our Parent Portal.

New members are welcome to join at anytime.

Click here to Access our North West Gymnastics Parent Portal.

If you know what class you want to enrol in but the class is full you can still indicate your desire to join that class by completing a waitlist enrolment. There are no charges applicable for this. When you waitlist for a full class this helps the Club determine demand for class types and allows planning for additional classes. It also means that we can contact you directly when a place becomes available throughout our terms.

On any enrolment you can add additional comments e.g. waitlist for a class type but indicate any other days that would also suit even if they aren’t currently scheduled in our timetable.

All class enrolments are of an ongoing basis until you elect to change classes or drop with 2 weeks notice through our Parent Portal.

You can find all the info on Our Classes here including our timetable, class pricing and membership.

Trial classes can be arranged at the normal one off class cost where there is space in a class. Please contact us via email for details once your account and student are set up in the Portal. Make sure you tell us the students name, class type and date and we’ll do our best to accommodate these requests.

Expressions of Interest are open for 2024 Classes via “Bookings” and “Find a Class” on our parent portal.

Please check your Parent Portal to confirm your class times and dates.

Our Parent Portal is a one stop shop for you to manage your students, enrolments, holiday classes, billing, invoices, absences, makeup classes, merchandise, apparel and more!

Class pricing on our Portal reflects the monthly class tuition fees. Annual membership is applicable for each participant.

Fun and Recreational Gymnastics Classes

Did you know that North West Gymnastics offers a heap of fun and recreational gymnastics classes?

Our recreational classes are designed for those who are only looking for 1 class a week or possibly even casual attendance options. A great way to develop skills and keep fit in a fun and safe environment.

Ninja Foundations: For kids from 4-8 years (2 separate class options) with Energy to Burn. Incorporates Trampoline, Ninja, Air Floor, Bars, Ring, and much much more!!

Acro Foundations and Gym Skills: Ideal for gymnasts or dance students to improve their floor manoeuvres and dance specific tumbling skills. Complimentary for levels gymnastics. Incorporates other Gymnastics Apparatus including Beam and Bars.

Intermediate Acro, Tumbling and Aerials: Ideal for gymnasts or dance students to improve their floor manoeuvres and dance specific tumbling skills. Complimentary for levels gymnastics.

Acro and Intermediate Gym Skills

2019 Acro Foundations

We have a limited number of places in our Acro Foundations class on a Friday from 4:00-5:15pm.

Our Acro Foundations and Gym Skills class introduces acrobatic foundations, beginner tumbling and intermediate gym skills utilising all gym equipment to develop strength requirements (and for a bit of fun- beam, bars, floor and tramp, rings, parallel bars).

It targets the teaching of correct technique for acrobatic skills including Aerials, Walkovers, Cartwheels, Handsprings as well as partner and group balances and performance.

Our Coaches are accredited in both Acro Gymnastics and Acrobatic Arts programs as a compliment to our Advanced Women’s, Men’s and Tumbling Gymnastics accreditations.

2019 Strength and Flexibility Classes

With the success of our Strength and Flexibility Classes we are excited to offer an additional class option on a Tuesday afternoon from 5:00pm to 6:00pm.

This class can be taken on a term or casual basis.

Focussed on building the strength and flexibility required for the execution of core gymnastics and dance skills. Targeted work in posture, joint stability, core, upper and lower body strength.

Girls Beginners

Girls Beginners is our Introductory Gymnastics Program for Girls. Learn the fundamental skills that form the basis of the Women’s levels program including Floor, Vault, Beam and Bars.

For Girls aged 5-7 as a pathway to the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) Levels Program.

Is your little superstar a future Olympian or do you just want them to become strong and independent with well developed spatial and body awareness?

Girls Beginners is where it all begins ✨

Following on from Beginners we offer Levels 1 and up for Girls 7 years and older. Age ranges are approximate and can vary based on progress through class attendance and focus.

Classes run:

Monday 3:30 – 4:20pm,

Tuesday 4:30 – 5:20pm,

Saturday 9:50 – 10:40am.

What to Wear?

Gymnasts should wear comfortable, close fitting clothing during classes as listed below.

Girls: Any leotard, crop or singlet and sports shorts or tights.

For safety reasons students should not wear clothing with denim, hoods, buttons, zips or belts.

Rings, Anklets, Necklaces, Watches (or similar) or any loose jewellery are not permitted in class as these pose a hazard to the participants and equipment. (medical bracelets accepted)

Class Pricing

Classes cost $20 per class on an ongoing basis. Class attendance can be cancelled at any time with 2 weeks prior notice.
Annual membership for 12 months is $70.

2019 Early Learners

✨We have a limited number of Early Learners class places available for Term 2 ✨

Early Learners is a structured introductory gymnastics class for children aged 3 – 5 years.

Mount Isa Teachers have praised us for the positive influences our classes are having on the Kids in School.

Early Learners is the perfect program for development of early coordination, confidence and independence and is a great introduction to competitive or recreational gymnastics.

Very limited places available in the following classes;
Tuesday: 10:45am to 11:30am
Thursday: 10:45am to 11:30am
Thursday: 3:30pm to 4:15pm
Saturday: 8:30am to 9:15am
Saturday: 9:30am to 10:15am

2019 Term 2 Timetable and Enrolment

Our North West Gymnastics Term 2 Class Timetable and Enrolment is now open.

We have some new Fun and Recreational Classes including Acro and Tumbling class options for all ages in 2019.

Key Class Changes

We are excited to announce a number of additional Early Learners and Early Movers classes on Saturday Morning. Unfortunately due to huge demand and waitlists in these classes we’ve had to remove our Saturday Morning Jungle Gym to accommodate.

There are some minor changes to Saturday Class Start times to accommodate these Early Learners Programs.

Monday Evening WAG and Tumbling Class has changed to a WAG 4-6 Competitive Class.

We are introducing a new Strength and Conditioning Class on Tuesday Afternoon.

Our WAG intermediate and WAG Foundations Classes on Wednesdays have been shortened by 15 minutes.

Our Advanced Acro and Tumbling class on Saturday is extended for all participants to allow us to build in additional focus on Strength and Flexibility.

MAG Level 2 on a Thursday is pushed back by 30 minutes.

Our WAG Squad Program is still running: We will contact you with details.

About Us

Annual Student Membership

The form below allows you to pay your Students Annual Membership.

When you arrange membership with North West Gymnastics you become a registered member of Gymnastics Australia which brings with it a number of benefits including insurance. As an affiliated club we are required to ensure all members are registered with Gymnastics Australia.

Membership is non-refundable after commencing classes however is fully transferrable between all registered Gymnastics Clubs within Australia. Payment of this membership fee is required ahead of participating in Term Classes or following your first Trial Class or Casual Class attendance.

All participants or attendees in the gym require Membership including non-walkers in Jungle Gym.

Please note:

Children participating in Trial Classes or Casual Classes for their First Attendance are not required to pay Membership. It must however be arranged before any repeat visit.

Parents or Guardians in our Parent Participation Classes (Jungle Gym and Early Movers) do not require Membership.

Classes

Flips and Tricks – Acrobatics and Tumbling

These fun and diverse classes focus on floor exercise including acrobatic and tumbling skills.

With 3 Levels of classes targeting the teaching of correct technique for acrobatic skills including Handstands, Cartwheels, Walkovers, Aerials, Forward and Back Handsprings, Saulto’s, Tumbling Connections as well as partner and group balances.

Our Coaches are accredited in Acro Gymnastics and Acrobatic Arts programs as a compliment to our Women’s, Men’s and Tumbling Gymnastics accreditations. These classes also includes Aerial Silks and Trampoline.

Students can move between the class levels based on skill assessments in class. Please select Foundations as a starting point if joining us new or contact us for an assessment.

Foundations (7 years and up): Introduction to Acrobatics and Tumbling.

Monday : 5:15 – 6:45pm

Thursday : 5:30 – 7:00pm

Intermediate (8 years and up): Work to further develop and refine acrobatic tumbling skills including back handsprings, aerials, and saltos.

Tuesday : 5:45 – 7:15pm

Advanced (9 years and up): Focuses on advanced skills and connections within tumbling runs. This class is for athletes interested in the competitive Tumbling pathway

Tuesday: 5:45 – 7:15pm

The intended Age Ranges are indicative only and will vary depending on any prior experience.

Adults Gymnastics

Flips and Tricks – Advanced

Aerials and Tumbling

A fun and exciting class focusing on performance tumbling, aerial silks and trampoline.

Work with our Advanced Tumbling coaches in a safe environment to learn and perfect gymnastics and dance floor skills including front and back handsprings, walkovers, front and side aerials, saltos and twisting. Our Aerial silks add a twist for those wishing to practice the art and build strength.

Tumbling development in the use of correct technique utilising a range of equipment including sprung floor, Air Floor, Tumble Track, Trampolines. Our Gym is flush with Safety Matting and resources to aid in the safe development of skills.

The intended Age Range is 11 years + however may vary depending on any prior experience.

Adults Gymnastics

Strength, Flexibility and Injury Prevention

North West Gymnastics Mount Isa is pleased to offer a Strength, Flexibility and Injury Prevention Class. With concepts flowing from some of the worlds top coaches and the conditioning and prehab exercises that they use in the Gymnastics and Dance space.

Focused on building the strength and flexibility required for the execution of core gymnastics and dance skills.

Targeted work in posture, joint stability, core, upper and lower body strength.

Check it out, Tuesday afternoon from 4:40 to 5:30pm.

What to Wear and Bring

Gymnasts should wear comfortable, close fitting clothing during classes as listed below.

Boys: T-Shirt (not loose fitting) and shorts or skins/bike pants.

For safety reasons students should not wear clothing with denim, hoods, buttons, zips or belts.

Of all the fantastic programs offered at North West Gymnastics these are our most popular.

Mini Movers / Early Movers (1.5-4yrs), A structured class for those building confidence with Parent Participation. Casual Attendance Welcome.

Jungle Gym (0-4yrs), An Unstructured Open Play with Parent Participation. Casual Attendance Welcome.

Boys Foundations (4-7 and 8-12 yrs), A Structured introduction to Gymnastics for kids with Energy to Burn. Includes rope, Ninja, Parallel Bars, High Bar, Pommel, Sprung Floor, Vault, Air Floor and MORE!!! The 8-12 Years Program coming in Term 4 2019. This is a term Based Attendance Class.

Activebods – Gym Fun (5-12yrs), A fun recreational class which uses all apparatus and equipment to build fitness and develop fundamental movement. This is a Term Based Attendance Class.

Acro Foundations and Gym Skills (6yrs+) – Our Acro class introduces acrobatic foundations, beginner tumbling and intermediate gym skills utilising all gym equipment. It targets the teaching of correct technique for acrobatic skills including Aerials, Walkovers, Cartwheels, Handsprings as well as partner and group balances and performance. This is a Term Based Attendance Class.

Intermediate Acro, Tumbling and Aerials (9yrs+): Ideal for dance students to improve their floor manoeuvres and dance specific tumbling skills. Complimentary for levels gymnastics. This is a Term Based Attendance Class.

Aerials and Tumbling, (~11 years+) An exciting new class for Experienced Dancers and Gymnasts focused on aerial silks, tumbling and trampoline. Casual Attendance Welcome.

Advanced Acro and Tumbling, (~11 years+) A structured class includes partner holds and displays, floor tumbling with development towards flicks, front and back saltos, handsprings, aerial cartwheels, walkovers. Great for X-gymnasts, current gymnasts or adults. On Hold for Term 4 2019. This is a Term Based Attendance Class.

Adults Gymnastics (16+ yrs), Classes structured to suit your request. Casual Attendance Welcome.

Strength, Flexibility and Injury Prevention, With concepts flowing from some of the worlds top coaches and the conditioning and prehab exercises that they use in the Gymnastics and Dance space.

Acrobatic Flight for Dancers (11+ yrs), A new program for Term 4 2019: A dedicated casual class focussed on progression for dancers in acrobatic flight, hand support, leap and jump advancement. By reference only.

Flips and Tricks – Foundations

Acro Foundations and Gym Skills

North West Gymnastics Flips and Tricks – Foundations class introduces acrobatic foundations, beginner tumbling and intermediate gym skills utilising all gym equipment to develop strength requirements and for a bit of fun aerial silks, beam, bars, trampoline, rings and parallel bars.

Open for both Girls and Boys.

It targets the teaching of correct technique for acrobatic skills including Aerials, Walkovers, Cartwheels, Handsprings as well as partner and group balances and performance.

Perfect for Dancers wanting to improve strength and technique in acrobatic skills.

Our Coaches are accredited in both Acro Gymnastics and Acrobatic Arts programs as a compliment to our Women’s, Men’s and Tumbling Gymnastics accreditations.

The intended Age Range is 7 years + however may vary depending on any prior experience.

Acro

Advanced Acro and Tumbling

Our Advanced Acro and Tumbling Program is currently on hold.

In the meantime please check out our other Acrobatics and Tumbling Class Options;

Our Acro Foundations Gym Skills Class is available for kids 7 years and older who are still keen to keep up their gymnastics skills.

Alternatively our Intermediate acro, Tumbling and Aerials Class for kids 9 years and up focuses predominantly on Acro and Tumbling with a spice of Aerial Silks and Trampoline.

We also run an Aerials and Tumbling class for kids 11 years and up to refine more advanced tumbling skills on a Tuesday Evening.

Our Coaches are accredited in both Acro Gymnastics and Acrobatic Arts programs as a compliment to our Women’s, Men’s and Tumbling Gymnastics accreditations.

This program is open to Advanced Dance Students with Gymnastics Backgrounds, X Gymnasts (Level 3+) and Adults. Prior Gymnastics Experience or skill execution is essential.

Intended age range for this program is 11 years to Adult however may vary depending on prior Gymnastics experience.
